It feels weird having to write this out, but alas it seems necessary. Here is a list of behaviors that will not be tolerated on baise-moi and surrounding instances.

Most of this is common sense, but it needs said due to behavior of some individuals.

Collecting information for a dossier

Users of baise-moi.top and surrounding instances should not collect and organize information regarding person or persons on any fediverse instance. This will be treated with the utmost severity. Users will be suspended immediately and instances that seemingly promote such behavior or allow their instances to be used to organize such endeavors will be defederated.

Harassing or trolling other members

Users of baise-moi will not tolerated harassment against our members. This includes threats of physical violence, slurs directed at an individual, doxxing, “callouts”, swatting (i.e. instigating or provoking a police response), and any behavior that makes a user feel unsafe. If you are subjected to such behavior please don’t hesitate to report said user regardless of what instance you are on.

“Badjacketing”

Users of baise-moi will not engage in “badjacketing”, which encompasses many behaviors, but is a term to mean “making strong accusations without evidence”. It’s an extremely common rule in most political spaces. If you have an issue with another member please document your evidence and reach out to a staff member or a neutral party, such as Lecter on NNIA to explain your story.

Giving visibility to rule violating posts

Although we do want users to report rule breaking posts with the report function we ask you to not:

  1. Quote post the post (this just gives it more visibility)
  2. Comment on the post implying it is illegal in some fashion (this gives it more visibility)
  3. Vaguepost about the post (this does not help the moderation staff)

These behaviors are sadly common even though they are clearly not conducive to the health of our instances. Many instances remove our media and, thus, do not see images from our instances nor the context of the discussion. Debating whether or not a post violates the rules gives a skewed perspective to surrounding instances. If you see a post that violates the rules simply report it rather than give it more visibility.

Making criminal accusations or credible calls to criminal action.

Users of baise-moi and surrounding instances should not accuse members of baise-moi or surrounding instances of criminal activity, especially if such accusations are without evidence and are simply “fedposting”. If you want to report something that violates the rules of baise-moi simply use the built in report function, dm a moderator, or, if it is truly a serious and criminal matter, use the proper legal channels. Users making credible calls to criminal action will be treated in a similar manner. Instances that harbor both such behaviors will be defederated. Abusing the API

Users of baise-moi should not abuse the API in an automated fashion that degrades the quality of service for others. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive scraping, spamming requests, running unauthorized bots on unmarked bot accounts, or excessive IP/Proxy switching. Any behavior that seeks to intentionally harm the service at scale may lead to on-the-spot suspensions.

Vigilante Investigations

Users of baise-moi and surrounding instances should not conduct amateur investigations of any user. We ask you to realize you are not a police officer and are not qualified to conduct such investigations. If you see someone suspicious, are harassed by a user on or off the platform, or someone engaging in activity that violates the rules please contact a moderator. We do not care if you suspect a user to be an “anti”, “map”, “underage”, or all of the above somehow. Please do not attempt to play secret agent because it’s weird and cringe. In the past when users have engaged in such behavior they have ended up violating the laws of most countries and that is definitely grounds for suspension or getting entire instances defederated. You are not James Bond (or whoever idk spy stuff).
